2013-pedal rickshaw vs battery rickshaws

The entry of battery operated rickshaws in New delhi is slowly replacing the pedal rickshaws. The normal cycle rickshaw pullers are facing a friction with the new entrants. The passengers are choosing this battery operated rickshaw because its cheap and new. Still cycle is faster. The cycle rickshaw pullers need to spend fifty rupees per day as rent where electric rickshaws avail only at four to five hundred rupees as rent.

Jantar Mantar , New Delhi

the moon and a crow at Jantar Mantar

It consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments. The site is one of five built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1724 onwards, as he was given by Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah the task of revising the calendar and astronomical tables. There is a plaque fixed on one of the structures in the Jantar Mantar observatory in New Delhi that was placed there in 1910 mistakenly dating the construction of the complex to the year 1710. Later research, though, suggests 1724 as the actual year of construction more info

“Self-realization is the knowing – in body, mind, and soul – that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.” :- Yogananda Paramahansa

Nizamuddin Dargah

“Divine bounty does not discriminate between one individual and another. When the sun rises, it gives light and warmth to all people whether living in palaces or in huts. When it rained, the poor and rich alike are benefitted from it. Once, sheikh Mu’inuddin Chishti of Ajmer was asked to explain the highest form of religious devotion which endeared man to God. He said: “Develop river-like generosity, sun like bounty and earth like hospitality”. from Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia’s post

Every five to seven in the evening the dargah comes to life, especially every Thursday when this place has a fair like atmosphere. On special days like the biennial ‘Urs’ of Hazrat Nizamuddin and Eid people throng here from all over the world to absorb the Sufiana teachings he imparted.

CP: Connaught place still beautiful

gireesh GVConnaught Place, built in 1931, is one of Delhi’s most popular shopping centres. There is nothing that one cannot buy here. It also has several eating-houses. The state emporia buildings are also located in this area so are the head offices of major banks, airlines and other such things of importance to the tourist. The complex, popularly referred to as CP, is an important meeting point for all sections of people and is something. Even tourist don’t miss it for nothing else then for its architecture and the humdrum of everyday life. But today the place is dusty with filth corners due to ongoing renovations for long.
